Inmate sentenced to more than a dozen additional years for participating in a criminal street gang
(FLORENCE, AZ) - A state prison inmate has been sentenced to more than a dozen additional years in the department of corrections for participating in a criminal street gang.
On November 14, 2022, Pinal County Superior Court Judge Jason Holmberg sentenced Jesse Alejandro, 37, to 15 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections, to be served consecutive to his current sentence.
Alejandro pled guilty to one count of Participating in a Criminal Street Gang, a class two felony.
This sentence stems from two cases, both involving communications from Alejandro from the department of corrections. Alejandro is currently an inmate within the Arizona Department of Corrections and housed at ASPC Eyman in Florence. According to court documents, Alejandro used both a contraband cell phone and the inmate phone system to conduct business for the Arizona Mexican Mafia. Investigators were able to learn the details of those phone calls, which showed his participation in the gang.
