Florence man sentenced to ten years for sexual assault

(FLORENCE, AZ) - A Florence man has been sentenced to a decade in prison for sexually assaulting a woman while she slept.

On November 13th, 2023, Pinal County Superior Court Judge Jason Homberg sentenced Mark Pearson, 56, to 10 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections, followed by lifetime probation. Pearson also has to register as a sex offender.

Pearson pled guilty to Sexual Assault, a Class Two Felony, and Attempted Sexual Assault, a Class Three Felony.

In September 2022, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in San Tan Valley for a call about a sexual offense. The reporting party alleged Pearson had illicit sexual contact with an adult female. The reporting party indicated a hidden camera setup in the victim's bedroom showed Pearson making sexual contact with the victim while the victim was asleep. The video showed Pearson in the bedroom and reaching under the bedding while the victim slept. During an interview, the victim indicated there was no reason for Pearson to be in her room, and there had never been any intimate relationship between them.
