Coolidge man sentenced to more than 20 years for continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14

FLORENCE, AZ (September 20, 2023) - A Coolidge man has been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison for continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14.
On September 18th, 2023, Pinal County Superior Court Judge Jason Holmberg sentenced James Davis, 52, to 23 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections.  Davis was also ordered to register as a sex offender.

In August, a jury found Davis guilty of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, a Class Two Felony and Dangerous Crime Against Children.

In March 2021, Davis went to the Coolidge Police Department and confessed to having illicit sexual contact with a juvenile under the age of 14 on multiple occasions. The incidents occurred between 2005 and 2014. Davis later claimed he was not in the right state of mind at the time he confessed.  At trial, the victim testified and other evidence was presented that corroborated the statements made by Davis.
