Jonathan Altland Convicted of Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer and Unlawful Flight from Law Enforcement

Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller announces that Jonathan Altland was convicted by a jury on February 6, 2025 of a count of aggravated assault of a police officer and unlawful flight from law enforcement.

“Those who assault or run from law enforcement will be held accountable to the full extent of the law. We thank Gina Cucuzella and Patrick Johnson for their excellent work on this case to ensure that Pinal County continues to be tough on crime. Public Safety is our top priority and this verdict is a reflection of my tough-on-crime approach.” said County Attorney Miller.

On April 29, 2021, Deputy Nathaniel Clark attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the defendant near Picacho, Arizona. The defendant fled from Deputy Clark at over 120 MPH. During the pursuit, the defendant fired a gun at Deputy Clark, with one bullet striking the windshield. The defendant continued through Coolidge and then to Chandler, onto the 202 driving the wrong way and eventually into a fence of the San Tan Ford car dealership.

The defendant faces twenty-one years in prison for shooting at a law enforcement officer and his unlawful flight from police. “The Pinal County Attorney’s Office respects our men and women in blue and will seek a maximum term for the defendant’s crimes,” said Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller.
