5k Trail Walk and Family Day to Mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month October 12th

APACHE JUNCTION, AZ  - The community is encouraged to attend a 5k Trail Walk and Family Day in support of Domestic Violence survivors and everyone impacted by the issue.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Pinal County Attorney’s Office is partnering with the Apache Junction Police Department, Faith & Blue and A New Leaf to host the 3rd Annual Pinal County Domestic Violence Awareness 5k Trail Walk and Family Day on Saturday, October 12th.

"Bringing the community together to publicly stand up against Domestic Violence promotes a safer, stronger and better Pinal County," said County Attorney Kent Volkmer. "While this is a family friendly and fun event, it is our chance to support and stand in solidarity with survivors and collectively say Enough is Enough."

The event is family friendly and features vendors, speakers, games, and a mild 5k walk.

What: Domestic Violence Awareness Trail Walk and Family Day
When: Saturday, October 12 th from 7:00am – 11:00am
Where: Prospector Park ( 3015 N. Idaho Road, Apache Junction)

In the fiscal year ending on June 30th , the Pinal County Attorney’s Office Victim Services Unit provided services to 800 victims of domestic violence.

All are welcome to attend on October 12th. While the event is free, a $30 donation gets attendees a swag bag. All money collected goes to help local domestic violence programs. You can also donate needed items, including shampoo, toothpaste, body wash and paper towels. You can register for the walk HERE.

This event also features a prescription drug take back and free document shredding, which is an excellent opportunity to properly discard sensitive documents and old or unused medication. Please see the below flyers for additional information regarding the walk and suggested items to donate.
