Domestic Violence Awareness Walk Set for October

(APACHE JUNCTION, AZ) - To mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a community walk and family day will take place in mid-October in Apache Junction.

The Pinal County Attorney’s Office will join the Apache Junction Police Department and A New Leaf: Community Alliance Against Family Abuse (CAAFA) for the event, titled 'Stop the Violence - End the Silence Domestic Violence Awareness Walk & Family Day.'

WHEN: Saturday, October 15th

WHERE: Prospector Park, 3015 N. Idaho Road, Apache Junction

TIME: Registration: 7am – 8am

             Walk: 8am – 9am

            Games and Resource Booths: 9am – 12pm

Registration is free or you can pay $30 and have a t-shirt included. If possible, you are also encouraged to donate a hygiene item.

“It is extremely important to stop the stigma surrounding domestic violence,” said Community Liaison Latisha Joseph. “We have to talk about it, we have to be open to listening to, and advocating for those people that are going through it. Stop the Violence - End the Silence and help bring awareness to, and bring light to, resources available to those that need them.”

All money raised from the event will benefit CAAFA.
